Yoga!
Buck Mountain’s own Kitty Herbert is teaching Yoga at the Maple Springs Community Center beginning March 20. Initially, classes will be every Saturday for 6 weeks. Kitty teaches a classic approach to asana (the postures) with modifications up and down to accommodate all ages, sizes, and almost all conditions. Group class is planned for 9:30 to 11:00, with time for one-on-one work before and after the main class. The main thrust, however, is good health, in the broadest sense of the word - body, mind, and soul - a kind of oasis in the midst of modern life and aging. Classes also emphasize breath practices and meditation - and rest.
Kitty says, “I do not want to teach for money anymore, but since I do have expenses (certification fees, insurance, rent, equipment) I would encourage donations, which might include some help arranging the room and putting it back as found, keeping a few records, a little sewing, things like that. I have basic equipment (mats, blocks, straps) for lease and/or purchase at discount.”
